I often get questions about the best locations and special ideas to pop up the question in the city so today I decided to put it all together in my blog. Enjoy!!
Proposals not only in the Summer
Central Park / Bow Bridge
If you like the classic and most popular place in New York then choose Bow Bridge. This cast-iron bridge close to Bethesda Fountain is THE place for proposals. She offers a unique view at the Skyline at Upper West Side with this very special building San Remo with the two towers. Even you are in crowded and noisy Manhattan its a very quite place surrounded by a lot of green, a lake and the incredible skyline. The only thing you have to know: maybe you are not the only one proposing and you can be surrounded by a lot of tourist just visiting Central Park and the bridge. Try to come to the bridge outside the main hourse (like before 9 am and after 5 pm). During that time you will have a lot more privacy.
Propose at Times Square
Maybe it is not the easiet thing to find a calm and quite place in the so international crowded with all the billboards shining and blinking all over, but some how it worked out in the past. Times Square is always catching my attention. Its just the perfect combination of all kinds of nations visiting compared with all kinds of languages spoken and the this massive light on billboards blinking, singing and just being crazy. On Times Square you can book on of the billboards to put your proposal on. What’s more impressive like a “Will you merry me?” in the middle of Times Square letting thousands of people know that there is the one for you. And in this special moment Times Square will be very quite surrounding you – I promise.
Pop up the question in Long Island City
Before I moved to New York City I was visiting the City nearly 20 times and never been to Long Island City. Hearing Long Island City (or just LIC) I always thought about Long Island and in my mind was a beach and far away from Manhattan. Instead LIC belongs to Queens and its just one stop from Grand Central Terminal. For me its one of the best places to be close to the city and have a quite place too. That’s why I choose to live there.
The Gantry cranes are very distinctive and popular just directly at the waterfront. I won’t believe just around 30 years ago LIC was a very industrial, non-residential area. The cranes where used to fill the trains before the where shipped on boats. Now a days they transferred the industrial part at the waterfront into a Park with different piers. And just in front of you: the skyline from Manhattan. It looks so close as the East River is not that width at this point. You are between Empire State Building and Chrysler Building. A perfect place to propose intimate – for sure as a secret proposal possible.
Propose to the one you love in winter
Beside all mentioned places in winter time there is something special in NYC: ice skating! In front of Rockefeller Center, at Bryant Park and in Central Park. Sure, the most famous is at Rockefeller Center and here you can book packages where you can get “the Rink” on your own, they will play your music (Packages starting around $350) and you can propose!
And just to finish for sure you can pop up the question where ever you like. There are no limits on creativity in New York and nor exciting places. I have heard from Brides being asked at a helicopter flight over Manhattan. Nearly everything is possible.
All you need is LOVE!
