The question of all questions is finally asked, the happy answer is given and the ring is infected.
But before you trumpet the great news out to the world and tell everyone in your social media feeds, you should think about how your parents or family will feel if they are not the first to hear this news. Therefore, my first advice, call them immediately. If your parents live near you, you should visit them and tell them personally. Usually the parents of the future bride are informed first. Although that is of course a personal choice and certainly this is always dependent on the family situation.
You are engaged and of course you want to tell the whole world.
After informing your parents, tell your siblings, close relatives and, of course, good friends. Do not let anyone who is very close to you find out what’s happened through a picture of the ring or similar in your Instagram feed or Facebook. Do not forget to call your grandparents. For them, your engagement is also a significant event in their life. If you already have children from a previous marriage or relationship and they are old enough to keep a secret, you better let them know in person before they hear from others. It can also be a good idea to bring all your loved ones together and tell them at the same time. Of course, it all depends on the dynamics and size of your family.
Post a picture? If you are like many couples these days, you may have captured this great moment with a photo. This photo is undeniably very special. It captures the first official moments of your journey into the marriage together. The wedding is often considered “the best day ever,” but a marriage proposal is actually the one time when it’s just about you and your partner. Clear that this makes it something very special. Your journey begins when you hear or say “Yes, I want.”
Before posting on social media, make sure you have informed the family and closest friends before sending the news to the world. Maybe you should just spend the next few days or even a few weeks processing that great change in your life and enjoying the romantic moment before hundreds of Instagram comments and questions from friends pounce on you. Trust me, enjoy some private, uncomplicated moments for the first time!
